Overview of Nakasendo tour:
The historic Nakasendo Route and the quaint Edo period (1603-1868) towns of the Kiso Valley will make you feel as if you are back in time to the age of the samurai.
The Nakasendo, literally the central mountain route, was a mountainous inland route that once connected Edo (present-day Tokyo) with Kyoto during the Edo period. It was one of the Gokaido (Japan's five major highways) consisting of a network of sixty-nine post towns along its 540-kilometer route
Part of the trail passed through the mountains of Gifu and Nagano Prefectures in central Japan and was known as Kiso (or Kisoji) Road. This historic section of the route was known for green forests, crystal-clear streams, and remote rural villages and farms, which remained pretty much untouched from the modern world.
This tour also combines stopping by at "Yoko's mountain house" where you can feel the nature with waterfall and to see and feel old traditional house from 100years ago.
Nakasendo Samurai trail tour itinerary
9:00 - Pick up at Hotel/Station in Nagoya.
10:30 - Move to Nakasendo trail in Nakatsugawa city and walk through the samurai passage
11:30 - Reach the observatory on the hill where the view is beautiful
12:30 - lunch of your selection
14:00- Visit Naegi Castle and enjoy the beautiful view- one of the ancient castle built in 1200s now remaining with its foundation
15:30 - Visit Yoko's Mountain house
16:30 - Return to Nagoya
